CH Media, Ringier and TX Group will continue to measure the traffic for websites and apps independently from January 2025. Until now, Mediapulse AG has been responsible for Swiss online research on behalf of publishers. In September, the research center announced its decision to discontinue Swiss online research at the end of 2024 due to a lack of funding.
Traffic measurement for websites and apps is crucial for media companies and their affiliated marketing units to optimize content and thus increase their attractiveness for advertising partners. It provides a sound basis for strategic decisions, strengthens competitiveness and helps to boost the trust of users, advertisers and business partners in media brands.
«Traffic measurement is an important success factor in securing market position and developing new business models», says Thomas Passen, Managing Director Ringier Advertising.
«The seamless continuation of traffic measurement is proof of the quality promise made by Swiss publishers to the advertising market», says Philipp Mankowski, CEO Tamedia Advertising.
«As a common currency, solid online research offers the industry orientation in the user and advertising market. We are pleased to have found a financially viable solution together with CH Media and Ringier that continues to meet the required quality standards», says Mehmet Inan, Chief Commercial Officer of 20 Minuten.
«In close collaboration with Ringier and the TX Group, we have set the course for future industry research in the Swiss online market. We would be delighted if other online publishers were to participate in our traffic measurement so that the entire Swiss market is covered», says Tarkan Özküp, Chief Commercial Officer of CH Media.
From January 2025, the technical traffic measurement for the websites and apps of participating Swiss publishers will be continued by the previous service provider Kantar Switzerland AG (Kantar Media), based in Gümligen, on behalf of «Online Data Switzerland» without any data interruption. Kantar Media is a global leader in the field of media research, particularly in the measurement of television, video, web and audio usage. The measurement technology will continue to be provided by Comscore EMEA,
based in Amsterdam. The publication of the measurement data is planned in the future
by WEMF AG for advertising media research. Mediapulse provides advisory support
during the handover of the traffic measurement.
«Online Data Switzerland» is open to the participation of other media companies in the new Swiss online research.
