From the beginning of the e-commerce boom – triggered by the first lockdown in March 2020 – geschenkidee.ch was perfectly positioned and adapted with great flexibility to changing market requirements. Thanks to its excellent internal and external networks, as well as strong cooperation with suppliers and other partners, the team was able to react quickly to increased customer demands and achieve a sales increase of 80% in spring 2020. With a range suitable for the situation and adapted communications, the primary focus was on the needs and wishes of customers. This included the promotion of selected services, such as direct gift delivery including gift wrapping and a greetings card to suit the occasion. Specific new items in especially high demand in COVID times were added to the extensive product range.
In 2020, Christmas trading began as early as September. geschenkidee.ch expanded its existing wide range of popular advent calendars with a limited edition of advent calendars for him and her, conceived, designed and produced in-house. In addition to three special edition calendars, geschenkidee.ch customers were offered a wide selection of exquisite advent calendars for adults and children. Demand peaked at very high levels in November 2020, and geschenkidee.ch was able to handle this with ease.

Alongside a considerable sales increase of 26%, the EBITDA recorded growth as high as 160% compared to the previous year.
